DialpadCalls, texts and voicemails from your business phone, on every contact and deal.Dialpad is the business phone system your team calls and texts from. Connect it once, and matching conversations show up on contact and deal records in Ariyel—next to email, meetings, notes, and tasks. Your team keeps using the Dialpad app; Ariyel holds the history on the record.
Once Dialpad is connected, Workflows can send texts from your Dialpad lines and react to Dialpad events (text received, call completed, call summary ready, contact opted out). The workflow builder labels that group Dialpad.
One phone app per workspace#
A workspace connects Quo or Dialpad, not both. While Quo is connected, Dialpad’s Connect is unavailable and reads Disconnect Quo first; while Dialpad is connected, Quo’s reads Disconnect Dialpad first. To switch, disconnect the other app, then connect this one. History already imported from Quo stays on your records next to the new Dialpad history.
Connect Dialpad#
Before you start: connecting needs an Ariyel workspace owner or admin, and creating the API key needs a Dialpad company admin. One key connects every line in your Dialpad company.
- Open Settings → Apps, then open Dialpad (or choose Connect on the Apps list). Only owners and admins see Connect; other members see “Ask an owner or admin to connect Dialpad.”
- In Dialpad, open Admin Settings › My Company › Authentication › API Keys and add a key named “Ariyel”. Under Additional Scopes, tick message content, recordings and call list. Paste the key into the Connect Dialpad dialog.
- Under How much call history to import, choose Last 90 days (recommended), Last 60 days, or Last 30 days, then Connect.
The history window covers calls and voicemails. Texts are logged from the day you connect, whichever window you choose: Dialpad doesn’t let apps read texts sent before you connect.
Ariyel checks the key with Dialpad, loads your lines, and starts importing call history. Dialpad then shows Connected on the Apps list; choose Manage to return to it. If Dialpad rejects the key, the dialog says Invalid Dialpad API key. Check the key in Dialpad and try again. Other refusals also show as plain sentences (for example Quo is connected to this workspace. Disconnect it before connecting Dialpad.), never as a raw code.
Any Dialpad plan works for calls and texts. AI call summaries need Dialpad Ai.
For help with the Dialpad integration, use Contact Educo on the Dialpad page in Settings → Apps, or Contact support on its About tab once connected. Both email hello@ariyel.io.
Connection health and history import#
The Connections tab shows who connected Dialpad, the Dialpad company, when it was connected, and its status: Active, or Not receiving when Dialpad did not accept the live-updates hookup, so new texts and calls are not arriving. It also shows Not receiving when live updates were never hooked up: Live updates are not hooked up, so new texts and calls are not arriving. Replace the key to finish connecting. In either case, owners and admins use Replace key from the connection menu; it opens the same Connect Dialpad dialog.
History import has its own status: queued, running, stalled, or failed. A failed import retries on its own; after repeated failures it stalls until someone retries it. Owners and admins can choose Retry import after a failure or stall. While history imports, a Syncing Dialpad notice shows the calls imported so far, wherever you are in Ariyel; when it finishes, it reads Synced Dialpad with the total.
When a number is added in Dialpad after you connect, Ariyel picks it up at its next line check (every few minutes, or right away with Refresh lines) and imports that line’s call history for the same window.
What syncs#
After Dialpad is connected, open its Settings tab. Under What to bring in, switch each kind on or off. Switches save when you flip them, and only owners and admins can change them. Switching a kind off stops new ones from coming in; what is already imported stays. Each kind that is on appears on the record’s Messages tab and in Activity:
- Texts — in and out, including pictures, from the day you connect.
- Calls — who called whom, how long, missed or answered.
- Voicemails — with Dialpad’s transcript.
- Recordings — a link that opens the recording in Dialpad; audio never leaves Dialpad.
- AI call summaries — Dialpad Ai’s recap of each call on the record, with its action items after Next steps: (needs Dialpad Ai).
- Full transcripts — off by default. Ariyel does not display a full call transcript on the record; open Dialpad to read it.
Dialpad triggers only fire for what this section syncs: text received needs Texts; call completed and call summary ready need Calls, and call summary ready also needs AI call summaries.
Under What the rest of the team can see (what the team sees of shared lines and of other people’s personal lines), choose Just who and when or Everything (recommended; new connections start here). Shared lines always follow it, for everyone; members can override it for their own personal line. A call or text from a number that isn’t on any contact always creates a new contact. These work as they do for Quo; see Quo → What syncs.
Ariyel files each call or text on the contact whose Phone ends in the same last 10 digits (the oldest such contact if several match), and on that contact’s most recently created deal.
Lines#
Under Apps → Dialpad → Settings → Lines, each row shows the number, the line’s name, whether it is Personal or Shared, who is on it In Dialpad, and who that is In Ariyel. A number assigned to a person in Dialpad is a personal line; a number that belongs to an office, department or call center is a shared line. Ariyel checks Dialpad for line changes every few minutes; owners and admins can choose Refresh lines to check now.
Ariyel matches each personal line to its person by email. Owners and admins use the menu in the In Ariyel column to fix a match, or choose Unassigned to clear it; Status reads Matched or Needs a person. A shared line belongs to the whole team and nobody is matched to it: In Dialpad shows how many people are on it, In Ariyel shows Whole team, and Status reads Ready. If the company has no numbers, the table says No phone lines found on this Dialpad account.
Your phone lines and blocklist#
Once Dialpad is connected, Settings → Personal → Phone lines lists your Dialpad personal lines and every shared line. Each line has a General tab for what your team can see of a personal line, and a Blocklist tab, Never log these numbers, for numbers Ariyel should not log from that line. Owners and admins manage a shared line’s blocklist from its Blocklist button under Apps → Dialpad → Settings → Lines. To add or remove a line, do it in Dialpad; Ariyel follows within a few minutes. Both tabs work as described in Your phone lines and Numbers that should not be logged.
On contacts and deals#
Contact and deal records show a Messages tab for texts, calls, and voicemails, plus a Messages section on Overview, with the same line privacy as Quo. Contact records also show a Last contact highlight. If the workspace used Quo before, its imported history appears in the same thread. Reply in Dialpad opens the newest conversation you are allowed to view, or Dialpad if no conversation link is available. Visible items offer View in Dialpad, View the call in Dialpad, or Listen in Dialpad, and call cards can include AI call summary · Dialpad. Activity shows entries such as Dialpad logged a call, Dialpad logged a text, or Dialpad logged a voicemail. If the tab can’t load, it shows Failed to load messages from Dialpad.
Text consent works as it does for Quo: while Texts is on, a contact who texts STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT) to one of your lines is set to Opted out, and texting START or UNSTOP sets them back to Yes. A workflow’s Send a text only texts contacts whose Text consent is Yes; see Workflows.
Disconnect#
Choose Disconnect on the connected Dialpad page in Settings → Apps, then confirm Disconnect Dialpad. Only owners and admins can disconnect. Disconnecting turns texting off for the workspace; new logging stops and any history import in progress ends. Texts and calls already in Ariyel stay on your records, and Messages notes read Dialpad is disconnected. History already imported stays here.
Live workflows with Dialpad blocks stay on after disconnect: their triggers get no events, and Send a text is skipped with Texting is not enabled for this workspace; other blocks still run. To reconnect, open Dialpad in Settings → Apps and connect again with a key.
